Bottle 9 - A quote…

In class, thinking…  Not much of a bottle…  Just thought I would throw this overboard and see what people think.

Competition furthers humanity, fuels greed, and gives people reason to shine.

  1. Oxymoron Says:

I am not sure if I like the fuels greed part as it kind of contradicts the “furthers Humanity” part and “gives ppl reason to shine” unless you think greed is a positive thing. I don’t. That’s my take on it. Glad you are thinking. ;-)

  2. Winged Knight Says:

Not like greed is bad. Seriously, it’s just been changed into such a negative word. I mean, greed is essentially just acting in your own self interest right? You are always acting in your own self interest.

    Good quote.

  3. Galley Girl Says:

i think the greed part makes sence cause in competition ppl get really greedy to win. right?.. but i dont know.
    good thinking

  4. The Irate Pirate Says:

Lol, the reason I put greed in there is because greed is a good thing. Essentially without greed, capitalism wouldn’t work because no one would have a reason to do well and further humanity. Thus it also links with my third point, “gives people reason to shine” because as I said, no greed=no incentive. And if there is no incentive government regulation is needed. :)

  5. Winged Knight Says:

But since people pretty much always have incentive to do what is in their own self interest, there should be pretty much no government regulation. At least, a lot less then there is now.

  6. Hannah Says:

Carl you are crazy, but I love you anyway.

  7. The Irate Pirate Says:

    bingo wingo. :)

  8. Scallywag Travis Says:

dude, that’s original? far out, one might go as far as to say “gnarley” or the ever once-loved “bodacious” *makes hand gesture and udders gnarley under my breath for gnarley*

your quote is missing the ever missed exaggeration, what it do baby, what it do? (jace on can translate for you)

  9. Oxymoron Says:

greed /y/ - adjective - ravenous, varacious, gluttonous, avaricious, covetous, rapacious; eager, keen, intensely desirous (to do) Hence - _____ily adv. or _____iness noun

Okay so it’s got a bad rap. I cease and desist. I loved all the thinking that went on. That was fun. Do another one. We could have a debate blog. Anyone know of one?
