More like resting day from biking overdose.

For those who don’t know, or just like hearing me talk, this past weekend (sat -> tues) my buddy Vincent and I went up north to the great big town o’ Gibsons to do some <strike>homework</strike> mountain biking in the <strike>peaceful</strike> rainy, stormy, foggy, nasty northern BC environment. Well… It was an interesting experience to say the least.

[The Goods]

2 duffel bags containing much usefulness (clothes)

2 identical backpacks (I know wierd eh?) containing computers

1 60+ lb mountain bike case (Vincent prefers to carry his bike, rather than the reverse)

[The Trip]
Just saying that, hurts.

[Day 1]
Here we go… On the bus we got, smashing a few old ladies with the mentioned bike case. Oops we thought as we smooshed ourselves into the bus… Atleast we are stupid teenagers, they won’t think much about it. Anyways, we had a long journey to travel and I hadn’t had breakfast yet. It was 8:45 am.

9:15ish! Switch buses. Fun for everyone. Especially the old ladies. I think they were saying good riddance, but they were muffled by the mass of our luggage.

We arrived to the Swartz bay ferry terminal around 10:15, ready for the nice relaxing ferry ride. Apparently bus drivers don’t like over sized loads.

Tsawwassen arrived too quickly and soon we found ourselves running ahead of the car traffic in a mad rush to the bus. Picture this: Me, first in line; Vincent examining the map nearby trying to determine if this bus is the right one or not… I leave my spot to help him out… By the time I return, the entire nation of kazakhstan is in line… leaving Vincent and I a nice cozy spot at the end. Of course we finally get to the bus and the driver stops the boarding right at us. We take a seat… bring out our ipods, and wait.

A bus drives up, unloads… and leaves. Our hopes were crushed for a second time.

Finally the bus shows up for good… We board and we are off. Little do we know we have 2 more buses to catch before arriving at our hastily arranged destination… Aunt Judy’s house… Our temporary place of respite.

Tea, cookies, hospitality! Allright!

In the car, rollin… Rollin along. Thinking about dar, par, shar.

Poetry sucks.

Horseshoe bay appears over the dashboard, we see our ferry just as soon as we are on it. Efficiency.

The crash of waves, the harsh motor, the buzz… Silence… The light cracks between the big wave doors, car engines roar to life. And we are off once again. Our journey close to completion.

Into the bus, downtown we go. To our extreme dismay we are dropped off at the edge of town… A good hard walk from my house up on the bluff. Sometimes we wished we packed lighter.

Finally we arrive. Into the door we go, lights on, security off… Bike made, dinner had. Speaking of dinner, our neighbor provided us with an amazing surprise dinner and dessert to finish our journey. Must have been one of the most satisfying dinners I have ever had. I believe at that point it was mutually accepted that our journey was over, and the next day we would begin anew, on the mountain, rain or shine.

[Day 2]
Weather Status:

Rain 120%

Fog 200%

Wind 2030123014004%

Death 1%

The night before we had convinced (see: talked to and he offered) our Neighbor (Lance) to give us a ride up the mountain to do some mountain biking. And so after a quick ride downtown (to test out them dandy leg muscles), a quick coffee, icecream, internet, read, nap, etc. We buzzed back home, jumped in Lance’s car with our bikes, and we were off to the races… If there is a race for squished people… Lets just say his car looks bigger than it is.

None the less… For those who mountain bike, think of the best mountain biking day you have ever had. Double the fun. And add snow, fog, rain, and wind. The result is our day. It was FUCKING AMAZING! Plzseepicsonpicasakthx. (For those who don’t know how to bookmark click here)

So yea. Really your gonna have to glean from the pics what you can… and what you can’t ill quickly jot down here. Ready? Go!

path: highway 103

go to lookout

path: highway 102

path: sidewinder

path: technical ecstasy

path: through sprock-kids

travel: through Gibsons and up the bluff

All in all it took about four and a half hours.

SHOWER TIME! And internet, coffee, nap, etc.

Lance and Moira invited us over for dinner which was amazing of them, and soon after we moved back to our place to watch Super Troopers. Then I stayed up till about 2 making this: soul

[Day 3]

Vince wakes up around 9:45 to unplug horrible alarm music
sleep until 11:45

Really… Our third day was our day of rest. Everything on our bodies hurt from the previous day of intense mountain-biking… And so rest we did… After sleeping in (see above), we moved into town to check our emails and get our coffee’s… On the way back I mentioned the idea of going to Gospel rock, and it caught on (not hard with just 2 people)… See the pics if you really want to check out its beauty. I mean… Really.

Oh right weather report.

Weather: Beautiful.

Back to the story. So we chilled out until about 5:30 when project Pasta was initiated. Indeed, we decided that it was our turn to cook. We shall show the world that us guys are more than simple-minded simpletons. Well… When a guy is hungry, nothing but a t-rex will stop him. T-REX! We busted downtown on our bikes, grabbed 8.56$ worth of cheap veggies and meat (mmmm meat.)

Anyways, about a hour later we had got ourselves food poisoning… Left the house in a state of disrepair and gone to live in mexico.

Er thats usually how this type of story ends. However we are master chefs and the amazing Dirty Pasta which came flying out of our kitchen woulda made your grandma wish she took cooking lessons from us. It was… Beautiful. Like sunshine but better.

After finishing our very very very filling meal, and cleaning up (vacuuming even) we moved on to a nice and peaceful movie called Fight Club. Vincent hadn’t seen it, and since thats a sin according to my new religion (it starts with sittinginfrontof and ends with thetveatingpopcorn). So yea, afterwards we were pretty pumped up. Not as pumped as our blazing quick ride through the end of Highway 103 (the trail)… But we were pretty pumped. Enough to punch babies.

[Day 4]

Well day 4 is today. Since I am now exhausted of writing… Ill summarize today in one sentence. Here goes: Today we had breakfast, went to the ferry, had lunch with my AMAZING AUNT, went on a bus which took us to a ferry which took us to the island where we continued on the same bus to victoria where we took another bus to UVIC where we ran and ate dinner. Mmm… Dinner.

And here I am. Vincent is off doing his thing, my hands hurt, and I am tired. So I guess ill leave you to your ways. Before you go, make sure you go and find all the little links I took my time to find for you. And incase you missed the major one, here it is:

http://picasaweb.google.com/bloonlabs/

Make it your homepage. Oh and do return. I post sometimes… Just not often.

“It takes only one drink to get me drunk. The trouble is, I can’t remember if it’s the thirteenth or the fourteenth.”

~George F. Burns

Being drunk is like life in general. It has its ups and downs, its goods and bads… But you always have the knowledge that there is an end looming above you. The only difference is that when your drunk, there is the “end” and then an afterlife of pain and misery. Oh well, whatcha gonna do when they come for you?

So here is my story over the last itty bit of my life. As you all (should) know, I am a student at the University of Victoria, where I am taking engineering. The first years in my faculty consist of 85% of the guys on campus and about .001% of the girls on campus. If you go into my mech lecture and count how many of the students are girls (out of the 300+ first year engineers in the room), you get a number around 13. Yea, 13.

Right before my mech lecture there is a goddamn soap-opera lecture or something. I swear… All the girls in the whole university leave the lecture hall before all the guys march in. I think I am in the wrong faculty…

This post might seem a bit spotty, as I really have no idea what to talk about. I mean for me, nothing is happening in my life (apart from studying, sleeping and eating), and for you everything is happening. I mean whoa, you favorite little spaz has gone to university and “grown” up. He’s becoming a functioning member of society, and soon will be able to pull off immense stunts of chick-attracting skill… Like truss-analyzing and advanced-program-writing. I think one of the most attractive new qualities of me is I know what a eigenvalue is. I mean there’s hot, then there is someone who knows that shit. Damn.

I think that hangovers need to go and fuck themselves. Seriously.

Now. Onto an interesting idealism I have realized. When your in university, things take on a different meaning. I mean last year I wouldn’t even think like talking like this. All these fucks and shits… This crude language and that honesty. Speaking about what I am doing and nothing that I am not (not entirely true). So I ask you, please stop reading now if my new style don’t jive. You’ll learn less about me, and I won’t know cause I aint talking direct y’hear. (however if I ever find out, your doneskies. Kapeche?) Continuing……….. Here: So I was thinking and all, and I realized that really… I am my own person and right now I can make all of my own decisions, carry them through and take whatever consequences that come my way. And I really like it. I mean so far its worked, up till last night I don’t think I have made one bad decision (ok… Maybe I made one… But whos to know? I sure as hell can’t remember it ) and I have learned so much about myself that I think all my decisions so far have been worth it. As has the most latest addition to my pile: last night.

Rewind! It was Thursday night. I had just finished 4 hours of physics homework, missed a physics lab (I made up for it on Friday, I thought it was canceled… Turns out my Computer science lab was canceled.), and then did around another 4 hours of Calculus homework. I was sketching out (that much work does that too you) and thinking about lying against a wall and drooling for a hour. I didn’t. What I did do however, is put a nice fat order in with one of my buddies, to get me some drinks (one drink, I ain’t no millionaire) for the next few weekends. I mean, a 2-6 would last me forever right? I’m a light-weight…….. Fast forward! Its Friday evening (~7:00), I have just got out of my last class of the day (total time spent in class on Friday: 9 hours [10:00am -> 7:00pm] ) and I am looking curiously at this new liquid in my life. I mean, I have drank vodka before, but I have never owned my own 2-6. This should be interesting. So I grab a buddy and we take a celebratory shot to the weekend on me. (the more you give out the less you drink… good theory, but who really does that? Too expensive.) ……Soon later, I decide that I don’t want to drink more than half (preferably much less than half) so I grab a Dr. Pepper, chug a quarter and fill’er up with daddy V. And the night begins…… *camera blurs out and drifts around dreamily….*

“Chhhhrooooowommmmmmooooommmmmbbbbbbooommmmmm!” The vibration and sound of the sub woofer courses through your head. The speakers are vibrating across the desk as they pump out some serious hippy-d-hop. I mean, I am pretty sure I saw Jason Mizell come out of his grave and wonder what the fuck was going down. 30 odd people had shown up to my room soon after the beats started to pump… And damn, if you think you know what a party looks like, you just might be wrong… On a side note, nothing got broken, our RA didn’t come by till later and when he did he just asked for the music to be turned a tid down, and everyone had a pretty good time. It was what one might call, successful.

And that was random.

Moving on, its quite obvious to see how the night concluded. If you hadn’t already figured out my mistake, its probably cause I havn’t told you yet. Lets say it now. I ate at 4:00 between my Mech class and my Phys lab. I started drinking around 7:30. Therefore, I drank on a nearly empty stomach. Bad idea.

If I ever learned anything the hard way, this is as hard as it gets. Thank god for my friends who stayed with me all last night to keep me company. I owe them all one.

Peace brothers and sisters. May all your troubles be gone.

And have a good day, this one’s on me.

“Why does Sea World have a seafood restaurant?? I’m halfway through my fish burger and I realize, Oh my God….I could be eating a slow learner.”

You have entered my latest realm.

Of course, now you might be wondering, who is “my”. Well its me. Duh.

Too succinct for you? Perhaps a bit too much smart-ass? Well there you go, two of my traits you figured out without my help. How about some more…

LOUD » OUTRAGEOUS » NUTS » OUT-OF-THE-BOX

That might just be the long and short of it. Oh and forget that succinct bit because really I only meant it as a joke since I really don’t have any element of any amount or even a bit of succinctness in me unless you consider the fact that most of the time my math homework is quite succinct since I am too lazy to think about not-calculating it on my calculator since that would take too long and be so freaking crazy, which I hate… Yea. So I am sort of succinct?

Oh and handsome, can’t forget that one.

Keep on coming back… If your interested in my completlytrueandnonfictional accounts of the UVic (University of Victoria) underground… And by underground, I mean whatever piece of juicy story I can come up with… I mean, hear about?

Oh and ill probably talk about my life too.

Finally, on the creepy side, you don’t know this but right now I can watch you browsing my website from my computer… So I will KNOW if you come back. Oh the joys of a Software Engineering Degree.

Stay tuned… Cause there’s more to come…
